Glossary – Get
In the case where divorce has occurred, the Beit Din can arrange for a Get, a divorce. Where a relationship has had a spiritual beginning (the chuppah) it is good to also have a spiritual release from that relationship. You can apply to the Beit Din for the relevant forms but you will need a rabbi to witness them. If you have difficulties doing that in the physical presence of a rabbi, we can arrange to do this over Skype. Gittin are written by our specially trained scribe and are given in the traditional manner, though we strongly advise that this is done through shelichim, representatives, as this is usually the more practical route. Currently in 2017, the cost of obtaining a Get is £300 sterling.
