His academic background reflects a strong combination of scholarship and communal leadership. Rabbi Waterman holds an MA in Hebrew and Jewish Studies from the University of Amsterdam and an MA in Non-Profit Management and Leadership from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Alongside his rabbinical training, he serves as Strategic Advisor at Dutch Jewish Social Services and works at the Jewish Education Centre “Crescas,” where he is responsible for curriculum development and day-to-day operations.
The Levisson Institute is dedicated to the training of Dutch-speaking rabbis to serve Jewish communities in the Netherlands and across the Dutch-speaking world. Its work ensures that communities have leaders who are rooted in local language, culture and communal realities, while also connected to the broader European and global Jewish landscape.
As part of its commitment to strengthening Jewish leadership across Europe, the EUPJ provides partial funding to the Levisson Institute. The ordination of Rabbi Waterman reflects the importance of investment in home-grown rabbinic leadership for European communities.
The EUPJ warmly congratulates Rabbi Asjer Waterman on this achievement and wishes him every success in his rabbinic service.
