Membership changes in Germany

Following the decision of several congregations in Germany to resign their membership in the Union progressiver Juden K.d.ö.R. (UPJ), we confirm that the membership in the European Union for Progressive Judaism (EUPJ) of the following congregations automatically ended on 31 December 2023:

  • Liberale Jüdische Gemeinde Hannover
  • Jüdische Gemeinde Göttingen
  • Jüdische Gemeinde Hameln
  • Jüdische Gemeinde Bad Pyrmont
  • Egalitäre Jüdische Chawurah Gescher
  • Jüdische Liberale Gemeinde Felsberg Region Kassel Emet weSchalom
  • Unabhängige Synagogengemeinde Berlin Bet Haskala

The congregations have been notified and asked to remove any reference to membership in the EUPJ/WUPJ from their websites, letterheads or other publicity and have been asked to refrain from making any statements referencing membership in the international Progressive Jewish community.
